At Advanced Bionics, my first task in the R&D department was to design and assemble an articulating surgical simulation fixture. The goal was to allow process design engineers to test insertion of the cochlear implant electrode array (see above) into the cochlea at various angles and speeds. This information is vital to determine acceptable design parameters and ensure proper insertion of the implant during surgery.

Due to the highly controlled nature of the medical device R&D process, I am unable to provide visuals or documentation of my final fixture design.
